Weekend Round Up

I hope y'all had a fabulous weekend! As usual, ours flew by but not without some good times. The Husband and I celebrated FIVE years of marriage on Saturday! Yep, we got married on Cinco de Mayo, which we thought would be a fun date...there's always a party and sometimes a Kentucky Derby on our anniversary! Honestly, it was one of the only dates available at our venue of choice, so we just went with it.

Since all the Mexican restaurants are packed out on our anniversary, we usually do Mexican on May 4th or May 6th and somewhere more subdued and romantic on May 5th. This year, we decided to take recommendations from friends on a dinner destination. We tried a new place and it was fantastic! We had a lovely Italian dinner at Portofino. It was so delicious! Sadly, I didn't remember to take any pics. However, I will try my very best to recreate the scene...

Our reservation was at 8:30pm and we were promptly seated upon arrival (a HUGE plus in my book!). We opted for the patio since it was a nice night. Portofino is located in the heart of Buckhead but to sit on their patio, you'd never know it. It's a double level patio complete with string lights, Italian style trellises and a great view of the St. Regis Hotel through lush trees. Our server was delightful and recited a slew of specials, which all sounded divine, in addition to the comprehensive menu. For starters, we chose a bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc (I know, it's not Italian but the description was too good to pass up) and a stunning charcuterie plate featuring salami, prosciutto and pancetta, topped with fresh mozzarella cheese, basil and olive oil. It was perfect!

Second, we tried the salad special which was a mind blowing combination of greens rolled in prosciutto and slivers of melon. I wish so badly I would have taken a picture of this course because the presentation was equally interesting.

For our entrees, yours truly opted for the grouper sauteed with fish sauce, kalamata olives and capers, on a bed of olive oil infused roasted potatoes and garlic spinach. It was light yet savory. I cleaned my plate! The Husband chose the Italian veal with parmesan polenta and roasted broccolette. Of course we traded bites and it was a tough call as to who had the winning plate. Both dishes were wonderful.

For dessert, we had the lemon ricotta cake, with a graham cracker crust. Garnished with sprigs of mint and lemon zest, this was a lemon lover's dream! The cake didn't stand a chance! We devoured it in record time while still trying to savor every bite.

After a lovely dinner and lots of reminiscing over the last five years, we made a stop by Old Vinings Inn for after dinner drinks and some live music. A great way to end the evening. I still can't believe it's been five years. I guess time really does fly when you are having fun!

Since I was a bad blogger and didn't take any pictures to share with you, I thought I'd share some of our wedding pictures. Enjoy!

We were super traditional and didn't see each other all day until I walked down the isle. These were taken after the ceremony.

A few of my Bridal Portraits...
Since we were married at the beach, I wanted to keep my dress sweet and simple.
I'm happy to say, five years later, I still adore it! :)

The crew!

My all time favorite...
I actually have this one framed in our home, twice!
I took the black and white version, enlarged it to 11X14 and used it
as the center focal point of our memory wall.
I also framed the color version in 8X10 for our dresser.

I hope you all have a great week! Don't forget that the Stella & Dot giveaway is still going on. There's still time to enter! Click {here} for more details.

Cheers! :)
