After I "aged out" of the Miss America system, I decided to give back to an organization that gave me so much. I joined the board of the last title I held, a preliminary to Miss Georgia and ultimately, Miss America. My role on the board is co-producer and co-director of the pageant and it all culminated on Saturday night. Weeks of rehearsals came down to one very important night.
So here's how the weekend kicked off...I took Friday off and spent the day at the salon. Such a tough life, I know. But, it was fine time I get my highlights and lowlights refreshed. After the salon, I made a pit stop by my favorite local boutique, Fab'rik. I scored an adorable belt and an awesome clutch, both of which put the finishing touches on my outfit for Friday night's judge's dinner. We dined at Ruth's Chris and it was divine! Here's what I wore...
Does this dress look familiar? You may remember it from this post. It was such a hit, I decided to order it. It came all the way from the UK and arrived safe and sound last week. I couldn't wait to wear it! I had so much fun shopping for the accessories. Typically I would have worn the nude peep toes from Wednesday's post but decided to go with the gold ones for a dressier look. What do you think?
Saturday night was solid gold...literally. I wore this gold sequin wrap dress by Michael Kors along with the MK gold shoes from above. I paired it with rhinestone hoop earrings and layered gold bangles. Although this dress is gorg, it's difficult to photograph because of the sequins reflecting light. This is a pretty terrible photo but I still wanted to share it. I hope to have some better pictures from a friend's camera later this week. Until then, here it is...
Even after all these years, I still get nervous for the girls competing. I love having the opportunity to work with them and watch them grow over the few short weeks leading up to the pageant. And then at the end of the night, one girl is crowned and she will be our representative for the next year and will represent our county at the Miss Georgia Pageant in June. If she wins the title of Miss Georgia, then it's off to Miss America in January! The young lady that won on Saturday is a blonde and a vocalist, just like me. Check and check! What can I say, I'm partial to the singers! :) It's going to be a great year!
Sunday was super chill. We went to church, had lunch with friends and then hit the pool for a little R&R before Monday rolled around. The Husband was a trooper this weekend and for that, I'm so grateful!

So there you have my fancy weekend! Sequins, false eyelashes and heels. I loved every minute! Once a pageant girl, always a pageant girl. It's sort of in your blood! :) It was a blast and I can't believe it's over. Here's wishing you a great week!
