Let's Set a Date!

Hi Friends! Since I've been traveling lately, I haven't had time to cook much so no Tasty Tuesday post today. Sorry! Instead, I want to show you my new obsession. But first, a little background: I used to be one of those girls that wrote down and recorded everything in my agenda/planner. I was sort of known for it. Some called it nerdy, I prefer organized. :) Then when I upgraded to an iphone a while back, I started keeping all my dates and commitments in my phone and slowly moved away from my agenda. But deep down, I was having major withdrawals from physically writing down my appointments somewhere.

Clearly, I break easily. All I needed to be pushed over the edge was a beautiful agenda a la Lilly. Yes, Lilly reinstated my desire to jot down all of those dates and keep a record of my social calendar. Yesterday, I treated myself to this beauty, Ugotta Regatta. I couldn't help it! I ordered it from The Monogram Merchant and they are still offering free shipping. You can't beat that!

This sweet agenda is available in many designs. Which one will you order?
Go ahead...you know you want to!
Are you a digital gal or a fan of the written word? Or somewhere in between?

Cheers to Tuesday, my friends. Monday is in our rearview! :)

Saturday night cocktails at one of our favorite Mexican places / 4. one of my favorite bangles which I wore Saturday night / 5. new nautical baubles from BaubleBar / 6. Friday's Fancies : Go Ahead, Treat Yourself!

Happy Friday, Friends! For this week's Fashion Friday, I've used a summer treat as my muse for the perfect summer outfit. You may remember the post about this delicious cocktail. It's so good, it deserves more attention! Here's the outfit I put together...

I decided to highlight the back of this dress because it's just too pretty not to. I love the touch of lace! So feminine. Lilly always does it right! I paired this dress with the infamous J.Crew bubble necklace, a gold clutch and a nude peep toe featuring a cork heal. I love anything cork!
So what do you think? Any favorites?
Would you wear this outfit?
Have you treated yourself lately?

Sleep Well + Guest Post!

Hi Friends and Happy Friday Eve! I returned super late last night from Boston so please forgive me for the late post today. I had a great time in Boston but I am down right exhausted! With sleep on the brain, I thought I'd share my favorite bed time looks today.

Something we don't often talk about in the fashion world is sleepwear. However, it's still important for a girl to look her best, even when she's sleeping! We all know that old college tee shirts and beat up night gowns aren't suitable anymore so here are a few ideas of how to keep bedtime attire cute, yet comfortable.

I try to rotate a variation of all of these looks. Which one(s) do you prefer? Where is your go-to place to shop for sleepwear? And I gotta know...do you wear a sleep mask?

Also, I'm thrilled to be guest posting today over at The Blonde Ambitions. Please be sure to hop over and check out my post on Summertime Bronzing. I know you will love Andrea's blog too! We are best blogging friends! :)

Cheers to the upcoming weekend!

Beantown Update!

Hi Friends! I hope you had a great weekend. First of all, I want to apologize for not posting a Weekend Update yesterday but The Husband and I have been touring all over the great city of Boston. I can't wait to tell y'all about all of our fun experiences! I am still here in Boston and loving every minute. This is such a great city and if it wasn't for the brutal winters, I really think I could live here. A city rich in history is right up my alley!

With that being said, the blog is going to be a little light this week. By Thursday or Friday, we should be back to the regular scheduled programming! Until then, follow me on Instagram for updates on what I'm wearing, where I'm eating and what I'm doing. You can find me at social_sara. Until Thursday, here's a sneak peek for those of you not on Instagram...

Fashion Friday : Tourist Attraction

Happy Fashion Friday! This week's theme is Euro-Trip and with The Husband and I on our way to Boston today, I am definitely in a tourist state of mind. Below is an ensemble I put together for touring around any city this summer.

For me, it's all about having what I need and nothing I don't. That's why I opted for the small crossbody. It's just big enough yet just small enough. There's really no way overload this little number.

A heavy bag is no bueno, especially when traveling.
The scarf is ideal for transitioning from day to night and when it's not being used it can easily be tied on the crossbody strap.

So what do you think about my selections? Stylish yet functional? Not so much? Any favorites here?

Have a wonderful weekend, Dolls! Don't forget to check me out on Instagram to get sneak peaks of our time in Boston! Find me social_sara.
Thanks to everyone who left comments and emailed me recommendations for our Boston trip. I really appreciate it!  Cheers!

Tasty Tuesday : Steak Dinner

Hi Friends! It's Tasty Tuesday and today I'm sharing with you a cooking technique that I think is just awesome. I've tried it several times and it works like a charm, every time! I love cooking steak on my cast iron Staub grill pan. It's easy to use and a cinch to clean. I've searched high and low for the best way to cook a steak inside. Thanks to a fellow blogger, I found the perfect recipe.

Since I had a helper in the kitchen, see yesterday's post, I put him in charge of tenderizing the meat. The Husband literally massaged the meat for approximately twenty five minutes. Once he was done, I brushed the steaks with olive oil. Next I seasoned them with Mediterranean sea salt and cracked black pepper. I pressed the seasonings into the steaks to be sure the meat was seasoned well. Next comes the technical part and timing is everything.

For starters, turn on your broiler and heat the grill pan either in the broiler or on the stove top. Get the pan good and hot, place it on a stove top burner and then put the steaks in the grill pan. They should sizzle immediately. Cook steaks for 30 seconds and then flip. Cook for another 30 seconds and then carefully put the pan in the broiler. Cook steaks for two minutes then using your longest tongs, flip the steaks and cook for another two minutes. After two minutes, take steaks out of the broiler. Steaks should be medium rare at this point. If you prefer your steaks more medium, add two minutes to the oven time. After removing steaks from the oven, place on a cutting board and cover with foil. Let steaks rest for five minutes.

We like our steaks medium rare and this technique works every single time. The steaks come out cooked at the perfect temperature and oh-so tender. I paired our steaks with asparagus and all natural tomato basil ravioli. I brushed the asparagus with olive oil and seasoned them with sea salt and crushed black pepper. I popped them in the broiler for about 12 minutes. That will get them crispy on the ends, which I love!

And there you have a perfectly cooked steak using the oven and the stove top. The longest part of preparing this dinner was cooking the asparagus. Seriously, save the steaks for last. They cook up the quickest!

Weekend Update

Hi Friends! I hope you all had a great weekend! The Husband and I literally relaxed all weekend. Friday afternoon thunderstorms swept through the city and the evening commute was terrible. The Husband and I were both relieved to find out each other wanted to just stay in. We put on our PJ's and dialed up our favorite Chinese takeout place, and plopped down on the couch. It was DVR time!

Saturday brought on errands, a lunch date with The Husband and then some pool time. My favorite Sangria made an appearance and I've decided to call this the Summer of Sangria. It's such a light summer cocktail!

We stayed at the pool until 7:45pm and the thought of getting dressed up to go out just sounded exhausting. So, we hit the repeat button and stayed in to cook up some steaks. The Husband assisted me with cooking dinner and the prep time was cut in half. We pulled out all the stops and had a nice candle light dinner. Clean up was a cinch and it was nice to have a helper in the kitchen! Hopefully he will oblige me again sometime. :)

Sunday we heard a great sermon at church and then we had a nice lunch at our favorite crepe place, Crepe Revolution. We hadn't been there in a while and it was so good! After lunch we hit the pool for more R&R. It was so nice to not think about much of anything other than working on my tan!

I can't believe it's Monday already. Here's wishing you a great week!

Fashion Friday : Wedding Guest

Hi Dolls and Happy Friday! For today's Fashion Friday theme, I'm talking wedding guest attire. With summer weddings in full swing, I'm sure what to wear is top of mind for all of us. This summer, I am crazy about pairing navy blue with hot pink. It's a different twist on classic navy and it's an easy way to add a pop of color to your outfit. Have you tried this combination?

dress / earrings / bracelet / shoes

I chose this beautiful navy lace Lilly Pulitzer dress and jewels from my go-to place, BaubleBar. These gold sandals by Badgley Mischka are classically stunning and the closed heel provides support and stability for dancing the night away! Wouldn't these sandals be cute with pink polish on the toes? Love!

Any favorites here? Would you say "I Do" to this outfit?

Nautical Bauble Lust

Hi Friends! Happy Friday Eve! As you may know, I'm a little obsessed with all things nautical. Baubles included. I know, I know, you aren't surprised. I can't help it. I was born and raised on the coast, my father owns a marine business, my brother is in the US Coast Guard...it just runs in the family. So, you see, I really can't help it! :)

I've been trying to limit my clothing purchases and instead, investing in new baubles to change the look of things already in my closet. I must admit it is hard to restrain from new clothing purchases but, I have found some amazing baubles. Check out a few of my recent purchases from BaubleBar. I had some points to spend in the Vault so a few of these were free! Yay!

I'm in Love...

Yes, it's true. I'm totally in love with Unconditional Love, my new favorite scent by Philosophy. I've been a long time fan of the Philosophy line for years and always have several of their fragrances under my bathroom counter. But this summer I was looking for a new scent that would reflect my favorite time of year. Summer.

After a recent trip to Sephora, I decided to try Unconditional Love. I played around with a few options but ended up right back where I started...my trusty Philosophy! Unconditional Love is the right combination of sweet and feminine yet it's light and not overpowering at all. I love when I get a whiff of it during the day. It totally makes me smile!

Finding a new scent was no easy task. I'm fairly picky when it comes to fragrances since many of them either give me a headache or make me sneeze. Anyone else have this problem? Often times I will try something new and then resort back to my mainstays. But this one, well, I think it's going to become a summer mainstay! It passed the headache and sneeze test with flying colors. :) I'm thinking about picking up the lotion as well.

Next time you are in Sephora or Ulta, please smell this beautiful fragrance. I bet you will fall in love too!

Do you switch things up seasonally? What are your favorite summer time fragrances? Or do you wear the same fragrance year round? I'd love to know! Please share!

Have a great Wednesday, friends. We are just a few short days from the weekend. Yay! :)

Tasty Tuesday : Stirfry

Happy Tasty Tuesday! With this blazing heat, I've been trying to keep my oven off and stove top cooking to a minimum. It seems like The Husband and I are getting busier and busier as the summer goes on so quick weeknight dinners are a must.

With last week being a holiday week, coupled with us being of town over the weekend, means one thing...no food at our house. I made a stop by the grocery last night after work and picked up a few things for the week. After work grocery shopping + it's Monday = All the more reason for a quick dinner!

I am a HUGE fan of Bird's Eye frozen veggies (thanks Mom!). They are fresh (no preservatives) and cook up in just a few minutes. For a quick, healthy stir fry, I picked up some chicken tenderloins, a bag of frozen brown rice and a bag of frozen stir fry veggies. My garden is overflowing with basil so I picked a few basil leaves to jazz things up a bit.

Start by seasoning the chicken (or beef, your choice). I used my trusty garlic pepper, sea salt (in the crab dish) and onion powder. If you have a wok pan, I recommend using it or any large pan you have. Cook chicken over medium heat, turning once. Next, add the veggies and cover to simmer. Let the veggies cook for a few minutes, then add the brown rice. After adding the rice, increase the heat, cover and stir periodically. Once the rice has softened, add the fresh basil and a few tablespoons of soy sauce, if desired. Increase the heat to high, stirring continuously for one minute. Then, remove from heat and serve warm.

And there you have it! A quick and easy weeknight dinner that's not only delicious but healthy too. Give it a try and let me know how you like it!

I'm linking up with 33 Shades of Green for Tasty Tuesday. Be sure to hop on over and browse the wonderful recipes on Alissa's blog. Enjoy your Tuesday!

Weekend Update

Hi Friends! Can you believe it's Monday? I mean, seriously. It's crazy how fast the weekends go by. I apologize for the late post. The Husband and I returned from the coast so late last night and there was no time to get a post together before now.

We had an awesome weekend that started Thursday night. Although we both had to work on Thursday and Friday, we started the pre-weekend party by having dinner at one of our fave Mexican joints in Atlanta. We indulged on guac, cheese dip, margaritas and beers for starters followed by tacos. So darn good! The scales weren't too happy about it but hey, it was worth it.

Friday after work, we packed up and headed to the coast. The Husband downloaded some new tunes on his iphone which made the four hour drive so much fun. We had dance party USA all the way to the coast. It was awesome!

Saturday my mom and I hung out by the pool while the boys played in the river. It was nice to have some girl time with my mom. We enjoyed every minute! Oh and you know we sipped on some sangria spritzers! :)

Later that night we went to hear The Tams play at the river front with my mom (dad was too tired to go and was sorely missed!) and some friends but ended up missing the concert due to dinner. However, we did catch the fantastic fireworks display while we were waiting for our table. We love fireworks! Although we were sad to miss The Tams, it worked out perfectly. We didn't have to rush through our delicious seafood dinner (it was delicious by the way!) and enjoyed catching up with some great friends. The Tams actually came to the restaurant we dined at and we met a few of them before we left. Pretty cool!
I wore this awesome bracelet for the occasion...

Blurry picture of the fireworks...

Sunday we spent the day on the river with my parents. We had the most beautiful weather both Saturday and Sunday. No pop up thunderstorms to contend with. The Husband went kayaking and when he returned, we all took a cruise on the boat. It was so peaceful and Atlanta was just a distant memory. No traffic, no construction noise, no beeping horns, nothing but peacefulness. It was so nice, even if it was only for the weekend. We always procrastinate with it comes to leaving. It's almost like if we put it off, we won't have to go! Sadly, that's not the way it works. We hit the road right at 8pm and watched the sun drift off behind the trees as we started our four hour journey back to the city. I wanted to kill the alarm clock this morning!
A few pictures from the boat...

So there you have our weekend update. What did you do this weekend? Anything fun?
I hope you have a great week! :)
