Fashion Friday : I've Got a Crush!

Hi Friends and Happy Fashion Friday! It's so good to be home from my week of travels and I am super excited it's Friday. Low key weekend, here I come! This Fashion Friday post is all about crushes...outfit crushes, that is. Today's Muse: Blake Lively. I just love her style, I mean, who couldn't?!? I think this skirt is so pretty and it is definitely the star of this outfit! I paired it with a similar sheer top (which is on sale for a great price!) featuring a tie with gold embellishments. For a pop of color, I chose a pair of purple suede pumps. I just love purple and gold together. I completed the look with a python clutch and gold earrings that go perfectly with the embellishments on the top. I seriously love this outfit!

Travel Treats

I don't know about you but when I'm traveling, I am more likely to splurge and treat myself more so than when at home. I like to call this my travel treats. As you may know, I am traveling this week and it's been a week full of surprises! Here's a little peek of the small treats I've enjoyed this week...

Scarf It Up

I've mentioned my love of scarves before but in case you missed it: I ADORE scarves. My collection is ever growing (I probably have a problem) and I am running out of room in my closet (yep, I definitely have a problem)! My current favorites have their own section in the closet while the others are housed in my front coat closet until I rotate them out. For me, scarves are part of my accessories, not outerwear. Scarves can transform an outfit in a hot minute, especially this time of year. You can take a plain black dress and make it look different every time you wear it by adding a scarf. I love that! 

When shopping for scarves, I look unique details, textures and patterns. Color alone isn't enough for me anymore (I told you I have a problem). Here are a few scarves that have caught my eye recently...

Weekend Update

Hi Friends! Happy Tuesday! I apologize for not getting this post up yesterday but I had a busy weekend and I am traveling this week. As I mentioned on Friday, my little brother came to town for the weekend. He's a HUGE golf fan and with the Tour Championship in Atlanta this past weekend, it was the place to be! It was so good to see him and catch up. Here's our weekend in photos...

After picking my brother up from the airport, we hit the local pizza joint in our neighborhood. The boys had Stromboli and a flatwich but I opted for the personal Thai Chicken Pizza on gluten free crust. It was delicious!

Saturday morning, I woke up to a tweet from none other than The Gap for my Fashion Friday post! 

It was a pleasant surprise! 

The Husband and The Brother hit the golf course while I ran a few errands. I met up with them and caught the last bit of Saturday's game. The weather was absolutely beautiful! Low humidity and loads of sunshine. It felt great!

Saturday night we grabbed dinner and then headed over to one of our favorite bars. We played shuffle board and bocce until we couldn't see straight anymore! It was so much fun!

It was all smiles for everyone! 

Cheesing it up big time! 

Sunday morning we all hit the golf course for the final day of the Tour Championship. We followed around some of our favorite golfers and enjoyed the beautiful weather. It was a picture perfect day! Here are a few pictures from Sunday...shhhh...don't tell anyone we sneaked a few pictures here and there when the officials weren't looking!

The guy in the pink shirt is Brandt Snedeker. He ended up winning the tournament and the the FedEx Cup. He walked away with a cool $11.4 mil. Ummm, golf lessons, anyone?!?


It was a great weekend and I can't believe it went by so quickly. My brother and I both flew out on Monday. He flew back to the Outer Banks and me to the Northeast.  I'm hoping this week goes by fast!

Fashion Friday : Tailgating Beauty

Hi Dolls! It's Fashion Friday and I couldn't be happier! I started the weekend celebration early by having a lovely dinner with a dear friend last night and tonight, my handsome brother arrives for a weekend visit. It's sure to be a fun weekend, so check back next week for the Weekend Update!  Now on to the fashion...today's Fashion Friday theme is Football Frenzy. Whereas I'm not super crazy about football (please don't disown me, I really do mean well, I'm just more of a baseball girl) but regardless, I still strive to wear something cute to any tailgate. Here's the outfit I put together for a Southern tailgate...

dress / belt / earrings / necklace / sandals

Since we live in GA, it's pretty much required to root for UGA. My GA Tech friends would disagree but, it is what it is. Dresses at football games are the norm here in the South. With that in mind, I picked out this fun skater dress. With warm temps through much of the football season, I paired the dress with these classic TB sandals. We love our flip flops and sandals down here in the South!
I accented with a black bow waist belt to break up the dress and tie in the shoes, then topped it off with trendy black and gold earrings and a sweet monogram necklace. The idea was to put together an outfit that is easy to wear, cute but not fussy, all at the same time.

Falling for Blazers

Happy Friday Eve, lovelies! Cooler temps have hit Atlanta this week and although I'm not ready to let go of summer and embrace fall, I'm sort of being forced to by Mother Nature. I always find this time of year challenging in terms of wardrobe choices. The past two days I've walked in and out of my closet multiple times and the result is the same...no solutions. It's almost like I'm expecting to see something different each time I walk in there. Sadly, I am mistaken every time. Anyone else do this?

I've been using shrugs and blazers to solve wardrobe challenges as we move into fall. I have many shrugs in my closet but I'd love to add another blazer or two. I absolutely love blazers. They are classic and timeless. And chances are, you can wear them year after year. Here are a few I'm eyeing...

Desk Love

Hi Friends! I hope you are having a great week so far. The Husband and I are in the market for a new desk. We have been in our home for five years this summer and our office is a room that has certainly been neglected. I've been looking around for a new desk and I'm in love with the "less is more" concept. Here are a few I'm eying. I'd love to hear your thoughts!

Q & A with Yours Truly

Hi Friends! I'm delighted to tell you that I have been nominated not once, not twice but three times for the Liebster Award. I'd like to thank Sarah, Andrea and Libby for nominating me for this special blog award. Since all three ladies had different questions, I decided to pick a few from each one and answer together. Here goes...

1.  Do you still write handwritten notes?

Absolutely! I feel very strongly about handwritten notes. I love to send them and receive them. It's a lost artform. See my blog post about handwritten notes {here}.

2.  Sweet or Salty?

Both! But if I had to choose, salty. 

3.  Stripes or Ruffles?

Ruffles hands down. So feminine!

4.  What is your dream job?

A personal stylist of any kind...clothing, accessories or interiors.

5.  Do you prefer snow/cold or the beach for vacation?

Ummm, y'all know how much I love the summer. Beach, without a doubt! 

6.  What kind of camera do you take most of your pictures with? 

Right now, my iphone 4 and a Sony Cybershot point and shoot. However, The Husband is giving me a DSLR for my birthday. We are still shopping. I can't decide between the Canon Rebel or Nikon D5100. Opinions and suggestions welcome! 

7.  What was the first car that you owned?

2001 VW Jetta. I drove her for over 10 years and just recently upgraded. Her name is Jetta Jane. The Husband still drives her from time to time. She's a good 'ole girl!

8.  Where is the farthest from home you have traveled?

Curacao...deep down in the Caribbean, 30 miles from Venezuela. 

9.  Tap or sparkling water?

Both! I enjoy both...it just depends on my mood. 

10. What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning?

Turn on the Today Show and then check my email. I have to see what happened while I was snoozing...

11. What is something you can never leave your house without?

My iphone. I can live without it but it's not enjoyable for those around me! :)

Weekend Update

Hi Friends! I hope y'all had a great weekend. The Husband and I had an uneventful weekend and I gotta tell ya, it was nice! I started the weekend with some Cupcake wine (one of my inexpensive faves) and a lengthy phone conversation with one of my best blog friends. Once The Husband got home, we hit one of our favorite tapas bar for a late dinner. Somehow I was able to get my hair up in a messy french twist in lieu of having to touch it up. Score! Here's a pic from the back...

I had the seafood paella for dinner and some house made sangria. It was just what the doctor ordered!

Saturday morning, I attended a bridal shower for last weekend's bachelorette. Her wedding is in four short weeks and I'm really getting excited! The shower was at the Swan Coach House, a true Atlanta icon. We sipped on mimosas and noshed on tea sandwiches...pimento cheese and chicken salad...a Southerner's delight! I didn't snap any pics of our lunch, believe it or not, but here's a picture from the outside of the Swan Coach House.

Saturday night, The Husband and I had big plans to try a new restaurant, however, we were both so tired, we decided to stay close to home. We walked up to L'Thai, an awesome all organic restaurant. Here's a snap shot of my dinner...

For after church brunch on Sunday, we went to an old favorite and it did not disappoint. The best biscuits in town (served with apple butter)!

We had high hopes for spending the afternoon by the pool, but the weather didn't cooperate. Sad. Instead, we did some laundry and caught up on the DVR.
