New Year's Eve Glam

Happy New Year's Eve, Lovelies! Can you believe this year is coming to a close? It seems like we were just ringing in 2012 and now another year is in the history books. On the sparkliest night of the year, I thought I would bring you some of my favorite eye makeup products, perfect for creating a little NYE glam!  I love many, many makeup products but here's my tried and true holiday look...

{Shop the Look Here}
eye paint  / eye shadow / eye liner / glitter liner / mascara

When applying makeup, I spend the most time on my eyes. They are the focal point of our face and should definitely be played up! I'm a firm believer in an eye shadow base as it lays the foundation for the eye makeup. There's nothing worse than shadows and liners that move or bleed during the day and by the time you get home you look like someone gave you a shiner. To remedy this, I use eye paint by Mac in Bare Canvas. Now that I have the foundation set, it's time for the drama! Start with some dramatic eye shadows...I typically use three or four colors and for that reason, palettes are great.  Follow up the shadow with a great liquid liner (this one is water proof!), then add some glitz and glitter with this fun and easy to use liner. Finally, apply your mascara.
There you have it...glamourous in a snap!

What do you use to glam up your NYE look? Do we use any of the same products?
What are your plans for tonight? Whatever you do, have fun and be safe. I'll see you in 2013!

Fashion Friday : Countdown to New Year's Eve

Happy Fashion Friday, my friends! I simply cannot believe how fast Christmas week is flying by. I really wish I could hit the pause button. Thankfully, I'm still hanging out in the low country with my family and loving every minute. There's lots of gallivanting on the agenda and there is no telling what we will get in to. Look for some fun updates next week.
In the meantime, today's Fashion Friday theme is New Year's Eve.
Here's the outfit I put together...

{Shop the Look Here}

I know you expected nothing less than sequins from me and boy did I deliver. I love this high-low dress and I actually have one almost identical in my closet. This dress is fun, sassy and less than $100.
Can you believe that? Seriously a deal! Actually, each piece of this outfit is less than $100, with the exception of the shoes, which come in at $139. Not bad, huh? Since the dress is the star of the show, styling it was a cinch. I chose some pretty hoops, a sparkly clutch and a pair of classic peep toes to complete the look. My version of this dress wears so well and I feel like this one would too.
And not to mention, it's oh-so pretty when you walk.
Ahhh, I just love it! I can't wait to wear mine again soon.

So, what do you think? Would you wear this?
What are your plans for ringing in the New Year? Do you go all out or keep it casual?
Can't wait to hear!
Here's wishing you a fantastic weekend and a fabulous NYE!

Random Wednesday

Hi Friends! I hope you all had a Merry Christmas! I can't believe another Christmas has come and gone. Why does it go by so fast? We had a nice Christmas back home in Savannah and I am so thankful I had some vacation time left to take the rest of the week off. I'm really looking forward to it! Since it's Wednesday, I thought I'd bring you a little randomness...

I absolutely love Christmas decorations. If my home was bigger, I'd have even more decorations than I already do. Lack of space always ruins things! It pains me to even think about taking my tree and decorations down. Growing up, we NEVER took our Christmas tree and decorations down until the first full week of January. I have carried on this tradition in my home too.
Here's a picture of my parent's Coastal Christmas tree. I just love it!
My mom did such a great job!

What about you? Do you leave yours up after New Year's?

New Year's Eve will be here in just a few quick days. I'm trying to decide what to wear. We typically spend NYE with friends at their lake house in the mountains.
It's a casual evening but I still like to have a little sparkle.

I'm thinking about something like this, paired with jeans...

Or something like this, with black pants or jeans...

Regardless, I will wear some sparkly jewels and fun makeup.
What about you?

Speaking of makeup, my parents gave me this awesome eyeshadow palette for Christmas.
I can't wait to use it!
So pretty!

Every Christmas I look forward to watching the Kennedy Center Honors.
It comes on tonight and my mom and I have a date to watch it.
There are some great honorees this year.
Do you watch?

All this vacation time and coziness made me realize it's time to update our throws.
I'm crushing on this one from C.Wonder.

Doesn't it look so warm and cozy?

Well, that's all the randomness I have for today.
I hope you are enjoying the rest of your Christmas week!

Easy Christmas DIY + Random Wednesday + A Giveaway

Hi Friends! Is it Wednesday already? You know I would never complain about the work week flying by but my goodness, it's the week before Christmas and I still have so much to do! Because it's Wednesday, that means I have a whole lot of randomness for you. Are you ready?

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I had a super easy Christmas DIY for you. I apologize for not getting it posted sooner but maybe you can stash it away (or pin it) for next year. One of my favorite things about Christmas is receiving Christmas cards. I enjoy sending them too but opening your mailbox to find loads of goodness, pictures and updates from the year is just thrilling! In year's past, I've had a cute little wire Christmas tree card holder. I was indeed fun and festive but after years of attaching cards, the wire was starting to give out. This year, I looked around and found some lovely options at Pottery Barn, Ballards, etc., but just couldn't decide on one that I liked and that would store well (I seriously have a storage problem so this is muy importante!).

I'm sure I'm not the first person to think of this but it was too easy and therefore, I had to share. This works great on a louvered door but could work with a regular door too. This is all you need...

Simply thread the baker's twine (or ribbon) through the louvers on each side, tape it down on the back of the door, add the mini clothes pins and bam! You have a card holder! I found the mini clothes pins in a 50 pack at Michaels for $2. I already had the twine and tape so it was a cinch!

What do you think?
Side note: I think it works best on a door you don't use so you don't have to worry about the tape showing on the back side.
Added bonus: nothing extra to store!

Speaking of Christmas cards, we ended up using this picture...

I think this picture is one of my favorites of us. I'm definitely going to frame it.
Thanks to my Dad for taking it! :)

We recently tried this wine and it's AWESOME! I have seen it before (I was totally attracted to the pretty label) but when it was on sale, I just had to try it. It's Italian, medium bodied and really good.
Try it!

Last but not least, have you enter the York Design Company giveaway? If you are thinking, wow, that's a beautiful cuff bracelet, haven't I seen it before? You are right! These beauties can be found at Design Darling Boutique but here's your chance to win a cuff of your choice right now.
It ends tomorrow so please don't miss out!

That's all the randomness I have for today. I hope you have a fantastic Wednesday.
The countdown to Christmas is ON!

Weekend Update

Hi Friends! I hope you all had a great Monday. I had a severe case of the Monday Blues, especially after the events at Sandy Hook Elementary on Friday. I just couldn't seem to shake it and put a post together about our weekend. I know many bloggers are taking their day of silence today but since I took mine yesterday, here's a quick recap of our weekend.

The Husband and I stayed close to home this weekend. Friday night we went to dinner with some friends from church. One couple is expecting their second child any day now. Here in Atlanta, there's a restaurant famous for it's labor inducing Eggplant Parmesan.
Those of you familiar with Atlanta know I'm talking about the one and only Scalini's.
It worked for her first pregnancy and she was game for giving it another shot for baby number two.

Here's our sweet friend signing the "official" book. If she goes into labor within 48 hours after eating the famous dish, she gets a gift card and a onesie for the new babe.
So far, no baby but it was a fun evening nevertheless!

Saturday I spent some time around the house, wrapped a few presents and
put together my second etsy order together.
That's right...I have recently opened an etsy shop! Very exciting but it's a work in progress. Once my shop is fully stocked, I will announce it so y'all can check it out!

Sunday we attended church and heard an amazing sermon followed by some lazy time on the sofa watching MadMen. Sunday night we attended yet another Christmas party.
I wore this and because it was pouring down rain, I wore my hair up.
Thank goodness for bobby pins! :)

I recently rediscovered this dress in the back of my closet. I only remember wearing it once before but I am in love with it all over again. Don't you love it when that happens?
I've worn it to two functions in the last four days!

Such pretty decorations at one of the parties...

And there you have our weekend. What did you do? Anything fun?
Can you believe it's the week before Christmas? Crazy!
Here's wishing a wonderful and productive week.
Don't forget to enter my giveaway if you haven't already!
Check it out here. You don't want to miss this one!

Introducing York Design Company + A Giveaway!

Happy Friday Eve, lovelies! I'm so ready for the weekend and to kick start the (almost) weekend, I have something really exciting in store for you today. Thanks to twitter, I had the opportunity to meet Laura of York Design Company. I instantly feel in love with her sweet cuff bracelets and knew y'all would love them too! Her needlepoint bracelets are made of quality materials  and stitched with love, adding the perfect amount of pizazz to any outfit. A classic piece with a touch of sparkle...yes, please! Because of their design, these beauties are easy to wear, easy to style and did I mention that they travel well? Super important for those of us who travel frequently!

I'd like for you to meet Laura: the girl behind the designs.

Isn't she a doll? Laura created York Design Company in order to offer classic and preppy needlepoint accessories with a twist of sparkle and shine. She says her goal is to make life a little more fun by designing personalized accessories that can be worn anywhere.
I think she is definitely achieving her goal!

Here's a sample of her designs...

{photo credit}
It was so hard to choose...I just love all of her designs! However, when I saw this navy and silver cuff, I knew it was the one! I can't get enough navy right now, especially paired up with hot pink.
Take a look at how I styled my York Design Bracelet...

I paired my bracelet with silver and rhinestone bangles to compliment the
sparkly silver thread in the cuff. I had so much fun with this!
So what do you think? Do you like how I styled my bracelet?

Just in time for the holidays, Laura so graciously agreed to give one of her darling bracelets to one lucky Social Sara reader. Take a look at Laura's site to get an idea of which one you would like. While you are perusing her lovely website, don't just think about yourself! Think about those on your Christmas list too! She's offering free shipping right now, too.
Wouldn't one of these cuffs be so delightful under the tree?
There are so many fabulous designs, including monograms, there's something
for every preppy gal in your life!

A special thanks to Laura for sending me one of her designs and agreeing to host this give away.
I'm so grateful our paths crossed. Twitter is powerful, y'all! :)
Have a wonderful Thursday.
