Color Matched

Over the weekend, my mom and I stopped in Sephora for a little retail therapy. We met the nicest lady who answered a ton of questions for us. One thing lead to another and the next thing we knew, we were both being color matched. It has been years since I've been matched and there was no better time than right then to have it updated. I've been loyal to my beloved Chanel Double Perfection powder foundation for more years than I care to count but was interested to see what else is out there.

Sephora has this amazing technology that color matches your skin by taking pictures of your face in three areas. The computer outputs a number for each picture which is then put into a touch screen computer at the makeup bar. Next you choose what you are looking for in terms of coverage, look and foundation type.

This is the coolest thing I've seen in a while. It's 100% free and there's no obligation to purchase anything. It only takes a few minutes and I highly recommend it, especially for brides. (There was a bride sitting right next to me getting matched for her outdoor wedding...yes, Sephora makeup artists will walk outside with you to see how your makeup looks in the sunlight!).

One product that kept popping up with my color match and my requirements was the Marc Jacobs Genius Gel. I didn't really know what to think, initially. I've always had a love-hate relationship with liquid makeup...I love how it looks but I hate how heavy it is.

Believe me when I say this one is different. Apparently great strides have been made with liquid foundations over the years and I just missed the memo.

Applied with a foundation brush, this makeup is light weight yet it gives a natural look while staying put all day. I set it with a dusting of High Definition powder, {I love this one by Makeup Forever}, and it seriously doesn't move.

My color in this makeup is Beige Deep. So far, I'm loving it! Just to be clear, I'm not ditching my Chanel. I'm sure there will be days that I just don't feel like a liquid foundation.
Different days call for different make up, right?

Have you been color matched at Sephora? What did you think?
And most of all, did you switch to a new product?
Have a great day, dolls!

  1. What a cool thing! I had no idea that they did this. I've been desperately wanting to get new make-up for a while - and not all from one brand, so this sounds right up my alley. Possibly for my October birthday present?! Haha!

Hi there and thanks for stopping by! I love hearing from you!
